| The so-called Calata in Manifattura dei Marinati was a landing stage where the raw materials for eel pickling were delivered. The fish caught in the Comacchio lagoons arrived here to be marinated. In the “calata”, also known as “Fossa”, the fish was first selected according to its size. |
