Vallette di Ostellato

map of the birdwatching path   The so-called Vallette di Ostellato is an area covered by woods and fresh-water marshes, stretching for about 15 kilometres between two large drainage canals. A 4.5 km trail starts from Villaggio Natura, and can be followed on foot, by bike, by car or with electrical vehicles; at the end of the trail, it is possible to continue on foot towards Valle Zagno among blackthorns, elders and tamarisks. This well-protected area is equipped with bird-watching huts and shields.
One of the main observation points is near the White Storks aviary, while another leans over an open marsh and allows you to observe the nesting sites of Penduline Tits, Great Crested Grebes and Grey Herons.
The Vallette are an excellent birdwatching point all the year round; they house all the European species of Herons, several duck and sand-bird species, such as the Black-winged Stilt, as well as the White Stork mentioned above.
