The Association "Delta chiama Delta" (“Delta calls Delta”) (*PDF - 10Kb), which was set up on September 6, 2002 by the Po Delta Park of Emilia Romagna, is the first international network of Ramsar areas.

The statute (*PDF - 120Kb), supported by the Ramsar Bureau, was signed by the Brière Regional Park (France), the Po Delta Park of Emilia Romagna, the Regional Park Authority of Veneto of the Po Delta, the Nature Reserve of the Biosphere of the Danube delta (Romania), and the Natural Park of the Ebro Delta (Spain).

The association was set up in order to safeguard and highlight the value of coastal and delta areas in an international context, through projects of common interest and continuous occasions to meet each other, such as “Ramsar Cop 8 – Conference of the Contracting Parties”, that was held in Valencia; “Mediterre”, the 1st Exhibition of Parks of the Mediterranean area, organized by Federparchi in Bari; “MedCoast”, an International Workshop that was held in Ravenna, within which, in the 2003 edition, a meeting was held in Comacchio: “Climate change and foreseeable impacts on the deltas: a new challenge for the conservation of protected areas”. On this occasion, the association “Delta chiama Delta” officially presented the Charter of Comacchio (*PDF - 20Kb), that was approved by the Board of Directors of the association.
